The longear sunfish could easily be mistaken for a tropical reef fish off the coast of a Hawaiian Island, yet they are found right at the heart of the USA in the Ozark’s clean clear streams. The longear is a very aggressive fish. In the early summer months the males guard their nests and will attack any lure or fly that come near. These nests are easy to see and this makes them a great species of fish to target for the beginner angler in your family. The beautiful pint size fish rarely gets bigger than the size of your hand but it makes up for its size in its aggressive attitude and magnificent colors. The longear is one of those small and overlooked jewels that are tucked away here in the Ozarks. Let Longboat Outfitters help you find them for your next family summer vacation in the heart of the country. Have a great Spring! |
